Our Core Values
Core values describe the personality of our church by identifying what we hold most dear. They indicate the atmosphere we want for the life and ministry of the church.
We value worship as the highest purpose of the church and Christian life. We value Spirit-led worship of the triune God in joy and reverence. We value truth-filled worship in form, in content, and in the preaching of God's word. We value active worship that involves and expresses the heart, mind, soul, and strength of the worshiper. We value the choral and instrumental music of worship. We value constant worship, a theme in every activity of the church and the Christian life. We value evangelistic worship that displays the majesty of God to unbelievers, exposes their hearts, and invites them to join the church in worship.
WE ARE A GOSPEL-DRIVEN CONGREGATION
We value the gospel as God's message for bringing sinners to faith in Jesus Christ. We value the power of the gospel to mature believers into the likeness of Christ. We value the grace of the gospel that motivates us to serve Christ and others for His sake. We value the command of the gospel to go into all the world making disciples in His name. We value prayer that expresses our dependence upon Christ for the life of the church and each believer.
WE ARE A BIBLE-BASED CONGREGATION
We value the Bible as the written Word of God, perfectly dependable and true. We value the truths of the Bible as the foundation and context for all that we believe, say, and do. We value the Biblical ministries of teaching, preaching, study, and application of God's Word to people of all ages and circumstances. We value the doctrine taught in the Bible, as set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. We value the promise of the Bible that God's Word will always accomplish God's purpose.
WE ARE A RELATIONAL CONGREGATION
We value the bond of Christ's Spirit that calls us together and makes us His church. We value the unity of the church, which transcends racial, social, educational, and economic differences. We value the integrity of relationships marked by devotion, loyalty, and service to one another. We value the bridge that relationships provide for reaching one another and the world for Christ. We value marriage and family as a basic framework for ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ.
WE ARE A CHRIST-GOVERNED CONGREGATION
We value the recognition and development of effective, Christ-like leadership in officers and members of the congregation. We value Christ's plan to lead His church through elected and ordained elders. We value Christ's care for His church through small groups, flocks, and private relationships, under the leadership of the officers of the church. We value Christ's protection of the church through the ministries and leadership of the elders. We value Christ's ministry of mercy to people who are poor, sick, and forsaken, both within the congregation and in the community, led by elected and ordained deacons. We value Christ's ministry of service, led by the Deacons, to support the physical and financial activities of the congregation. We value corporate leadership that involves the congregation in decision-making.
