Kristina Johnson, 21, 2440 N. 41 St., Sheridan, Ill. and Daniella Brutman, 21, 555 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest were charged with violating alcohol prohibitions at Forest Park Beach when they were found drinking a beer and lemonade and rum while sitting on the rocks at 12:30 a.m. on July 10 after the park closed. They are scheduled to appear at the city’s Administrative Hearing on Aug. 10.

Reed Sullivan, 19, 457 E. Wisconsin, Lake Forest was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, resisting a peace officer, minor possession of alcohol and minor consumption of alcohol at 9:05 p.m. on July 4 at Western and Ryan. Sullivan ran into the street causing a vehicle to stop, screamed at the occupants and pounded on the windows. Sullivan kicked the driver’s side panel over the tire and driver’s side door causing damage to the vehicle. Sullivan ran from the police when they arrived and ordered him to stop. He had consumed alcohol and possessed a 12-ounce can of Bud light beer. He was released on $120 bond pending his appearance in court on July 22.

A 17-year-old female juvenile from Lake Forest was observed holding a can of beer in the 1000 block of Summerfield at 12:10 a.m. on July 4. Police observed her drop the can of beer and run from the police. She was apprehended a short time later. She stated she had been at a party on Summerfield and was waiting for a ride home. She was charged with minor consumption of alcohol and is scheduled to appear at the city’s Administrative Hearing on Aug. 10.

A 16-year-old male juvenile from Lake Forest was charged with minor consumption of alcohol after he was transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for alcohol (vodka) poisoning following an incident in the 400 block of Hastings at 9 p.m. on July 4. He is scheduled to appear at the city’s Administrative Hearing on Aug. 10.

An officer smelled a strong odor of cannabis and stopped to question three Lake Forest teens at Deerpath and Golf at 11:20 p.m. on July. 4 All three subjects admitted to drinking alcohol. Charged with minor consumption of alcohol were: Charles Deyoung, 19, 860 Mellody Road; Joseph Iosue, 19, 125 Honeysuckle Road; and Joshua Sirota, 19, 950 Gage Lane. Deyoung also was charged with minor possession of alcohol because he had in his possession a can of Bud Light beer. Sirota received an additional charge of possession of drug paraphernalia because he had a smoking pipe that he used to smoke marijuana. They are scheduled to appear at the city’s Administrative Hearing on Aug. 10. Sirota also is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 16.

Williamson County Coroner, Michael “Junior” Burke, reports a Herrin male died Saturday morning due to a drowning at his home.  43-year old Craig Andrew Stevens was pronounced dead at Herrin Hospital about 4:35 AM.  Stevens was found in his pool at 401 Lou Ann Drive about 3:30 AM.  The incident is still under investigation and an autopsy was performed yesterday, but no further information is available.

41-year old Randy Williams is dead following a midnight drowning Saturday evening.  It happened at a private pond on Garrett’s Praire Road.  Williams was to Franklin Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  He had been in the water about 10 minutes before first responders arrived on the scene.  According to the Franklin County Coroner, alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accidental drowning. 

The Mount Vernon Public Utilities Department still has a boil water notice for the 100 block of North 11 Street that is in effect that ran throughout the weekend.  It could be lifted by tomorrow.

The Mount Vernon City council will go over bid results for motor fuel taxes and an elevated water storage tank tonight at 7 during the regular city council meeting.  They will also see an ordinance granting conditional use for a church property and have a first reading on an ordinance amending the salary ordinance.  The council will look at a resolution authorizing an appointment of the Human Resource Director as an Authorized agent for the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund and a resolution for street closures for the 2011 annual Christmas Parade.  Finally, in the Mayor’s section of the agenda, she will make appointments to various boards and commissions.  All of that will be heard at the Rolland Lewis Building in Mount Vernon and will air live on WMIX 940 AM at 7 o’clock tonight.

The Mount Vernon Police Department is looking for hit-and-run suspects and they need your help.  Mount Vernon police say two vehicles were traveling on Conger Avenue without headlights and at high speeds on Sunday, July 3 Street.  The person, whose name is not being released, suffered injuries from the collision.  If you have any information, you can call the MVPD at 242-2131 or the Jefferson County Crime Stoppers tips line at 242-8477.  Jefferson County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons driving the vehicles.  If you give information to Crime Stoppers, you will remain anonymous.
