Masonic Lodge announces second annual golf tournament
Nevada, Mo. -- The Osage Lodge No. 303 A.F. & A.M. will be hosting their second annual golf tournament at the Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course in Nevada, Mo. on July 30. The fundraising event is a four-person scramble, slated to begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The $260 per team entry fee will include morning donuts and coffee, lunch, on-course soft drinks and water, as well as range balls and entry into the long drive, long putt and closest to pin contests. A special skins game will be available.
A silent auction will be held featuring gift certificates for several rounds of golf at other courses, a Nevada Tigers stadium seat, pizza, oil changes, roofing coupons and many other great items donated by generous local merchants. The bidding is open to anyone and bidders need not be present to win.
All proceeds from this event will be used to support the MoCHIP child identification program and the Partners in Education program. The MoCHIP program is conducted by the Missouri Masonic Lodge, which provides the manpower and equipment needed to gather information. The program is provided free of charge and each child's parent receives a CD providing their child's height, weight, hair and eye color, digital photograph, fingerprints and dental impression as well as a DNA/scent sample. All information is given to parents and none is stored in any way.
The Partners in Education program is coordinated with the Nevada R-5 School District and provides children facing financial hardship with specific items like clothing, shoes or school supplies. School personnel identify the children with needs and provide the Masonic Lodge with a list of items. The lodge then gives the school representative a check and they purchase and distribute the items. There are no student names involved in the process.
The last day to register for the tournament is July 18. Entry forms are available at the Frank E. Peters golf gourse or entry forms and more information can be obtained by calling (417) 667-6920.
