Design to inspire
Two years ago, English-born interior designer Joanna Everitt, her husband and their two son Justin, Jordan and Daniel fell in love with a home with 1950 classic on a hill in Alfred Cove.
They were so surprised by the property they sold their old house Mt Pleasant - designed by Mr. Everitt, a British architect qualified - and bought the property.
"We just fell in love with her and decided the view will always be there and it's something that my husband and I will work on time," said Mrs Everitt.
"I had the new house, I made all the" new thing ", but I would choose the old house every time because it has more character," said Mrs Everitt.
While the house is still a work in progress, with the couple planning to renovate and possibly add another floor, the interior has undergone a dramatic facelift temporary.
"We have not done major renovations on the inside, it was just paint and dress up and add different keys," said Mrs Everitt.
She nominated the front living room as one of his favorite places in the house, and it is not hard to see why - the space is filled with light, is spacious enough to comfortably accommodate two large sofas and is enclosed by a large open windows with outlook to the city and river views."I think the reason I like this piece is mostly that I used to have a dining room, and now I have changed my living room," she said. "This gives you a feeling of winter, so in winter it gives you that warmth, "she said.
To refresh the old stale space obsolete, old brown brick walls have been rendered and painted white. The wooden beams in the ceiling were also keen painted white.
"I thought the color that you could do a lot with paint you could do a lot and we had a lot of furniture that would fit in the house," she said.
"Starting with a simple palette, you can then add color to that of your furniture and accessories," Ms. Everitt said.
Splashes of color include a chandelier colorful, vibrant works of various art on the walls, a bright blue padded seat area and several bright and cheerful cushions propped on the sofas in neutral tones and blue-cushioned day bed.
To inject his personality and his signature style, Ms. Everitt has on display a mixture of vintage antiques, souvenirs and trinkets resisted collected during trips abroad.
"All I have in this house we really like a family," she said. "We travel a lot and we pick up many objects we see and we love.

Project Number: 101065
Relevant Project Info:General Information
Long-term water intrusion has occurred in the basement level of the property. Property managers are concerned that the affected areas may have had a negative impact on the upper levels of the building. The property is heated by a natural gas boiler located in the basement mechanical room, and radiators throughout the building.
Room 7:
Wood wall paneling throughout. Increased moisture content and obvious rot noted at base of back wall. Trim had been removed exposing rotted wood material. Window shows water damage and corrosion from the exterior. FLIR results consistent with direct moisture testing. The deck located above this room has a history of water damage, but no measurable signs could be identified from the interior. RH: 48.2% Temp: 64.2F CO2 = 431ppm CO = 0ppmRecommendations
Establish containment. Install HEPA scrubber for negative pressurization throughout the duration of work. Remove affected wall paneling, trim, and underlying insulation. Expose and inspect areas around the affected window. Cut inspection holes strategically in ceiling to assess the potential for damage secondary to the previous deck issues above. Install dehumidifier and air movers to dry remaining wet building materials to below 20% moisture content. Clean/treat/encapsulate contaminated framing, sheathing, etc. Perform detailed HEPA vacuuming of the entire contained area. Apply EPA-registered anti-microbial agents to the entire contained area via ultra-low volume fogger. Perform final IAQ sampling. No increased moisture content noted in tested building materials. No significant visible mold growth observed. No suspicious temperature differentials noted on inspection with FLIR. No obvious signs of water damage. History of potential wetting of carpet through exterior door. RH: 49.4% Temp: 64.0F CO2 = 479ppm CO = 0ppm
