Horsepower and Ponies at High Desert Harley Davidson

If you’ve ever dreamed of finding motorcycles, ponies, poker hands and music all in one place, your dreams have come true.

On June 25, High Desert Harley-Davidson is hosting Horsepower and Ponies, a motorcycle poker fun run (well, ride) and concert to benefit the nonprofit organization Personal Ponies, Ltd.

Here’s how it works: Riders receive a score sheet and route map, then hop on their bikes and cruise to five different locations on a 78-mile loop, stopping and drawing a card at each. Riders with the best hands win prizes at the end of the run.

The run is from 9-11 a.m. and registration for the ride is $20, which includes one poker hand—each additional hand is $5. But this leather-laden, family fun event doesn’t run out of gas there. Live music featuring Tim Macdonald with Bad Habit Band will begin at 1 p.m. to accompany a raffle, silent auction, food and more fun.

At 7:30 p.m., the party will move to the Buffalo Club , where Ira Dean of Trick Pony will perform with the Saloonatics.

You are probably still wondering about the ponies.

The beneficiary of all of this fun is Personal Ponies Ltd., a nonprofit organization that supplies Shetland ponies to differently abled children. Their unique mission is to enrich children’s lives by providing them with a miniature equine companion to love and care for, at no cost.

Motorcyclists to roll again in Treasure Valley for Idaho military ...

Patriot Thunder begins June 5 in Meridian and will benefit three non-profits, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Idaho Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund, and Mountain Home Air Force Base’s Operation Warmheart.

Events will include a flyover, cannon-fired start and police escorts.

Organizers have a website and contributions may be made at Pioneer Federal Credit Union branches.

It's coming – Patriot Thunder will roll again on Idaho June 5th!

Idaho Patriot Thunder (idahopatriotthunder.com, facebook.com/idahopatriotthunder.com) will again roll on Sunday 5 June 2011 supporting The Wounded Warrior Project, the Idaho Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund, and Mountain Home Air Force Base’s Operation Warmheart, all 501 (C) 3 approved charities focused on military families.

This year’s event will once again start at High Desert Harley Davidson, Meridian at 1100 AM on Sunday 5 June and will include a WWII Nampa Warhawk heritage formation flyover, an Idaho Guard historic cannon “shot gun” start, Honor Guard presentation, and an Idaho State Patrol / city police escort for the entire route.

Riders will travel to Mountain Home Air Force Base to thank our Air Force members and then proceed to the Nampa Warhawk Museum for lunch and music. New for this year, we will be raffling off an opportunity to ride in one of the Nampa Warhawk Museum’s WWII P-40 fighters with all proceeds also going to the three military charities.

Raffle tickets are $10 for one and $50 for six chances to win and can be purchased at High Desert Harley Davidson now through June 4 2011.

Also, a $25 pre-registration is taking place now at High Desert Harley Davidson, Gowen Field, and Mountain Home Air Force Base with non-participant contributions and donations being made at any Pioneer Federal Credit Union under the Idaho Patriot Thunder account.
