The Pedro Liberty is not a second home in a fixed place. The Dutch motor yacht builder has been renowned for its luxurious motor cruisers which are sold throughout Europe. Now, she brings a product with which the mobility of a motor yacht is combined with the comfort of a holiday bungalow. Marketing manager Ivar van der Leij explains: “We see more and more often that our customers want to be on the water for a longer time period. A season in our branche lastst not just from March to October. An increasing group also wants to be on their boat during winter time. That asks for a higher comfort level and other specifications of a motor yacht. In the Liberty, we have combined this high level of comfort with the mobility of a yacht. More space and more comfort, without decreasing the excellent sailing characteristics for which our boats are renowned for.” The characteristic ‘liberty’ translates to the comfort what is behind the large sliding door in the living of the boat. That superb comfort is achieved by the use of comfortable furniture, modern sanitary facilities and high-quality kitchen appliances as you would find at home or in a luxurious holiday bungalow. The customer can decide the interior completely by him- or herself. The Pedro Liberty has the sailing characteristics for which a Pedro is renowned. The boat is easy to steer, even by an unexperienced skipper. The standard bow- and stern thruster makes the Liberty extremely manoeuvrable. Another special feature is the optional anchor pole installation. With this, on can moor the boat without having to use lines. The integrated anchor poles are dropped with one button push and fix the boat to the bottom. One of life’s little luxuries! The Liberty is offered standard with a Volvo Penta Diesel engine, but can also be delivered with a hybrid propulsion system. With this, also the areas only open for electrical engines can be discovered. For those who choose to boat from a fixed marina, the shipyard is talking to several marina operators for opening mooring spaces especially for the Liberty. An example for this is Nautical Centre Pietersplas in Maastricht, The Netherlands, where part of the day mooring spaces are turned into ‘Libertyparc’. Mooring place, access and other facilities will be adapted in order to make a long stay on the Liberty even more pleasant. During the summer months, the Liberty can be seen on the water in many Dutch places.

Decided around 5:00pm at work.. that i shouldnt miss out on this day. I got home from work about 6:00pm after a little arguement with my wife because i had some other appointment later this evening which brutely had to be canceled.. I packed my stuff quickly and joined the trafficjams all the way to the beach of IJmuiden. Around 7.40pm i was finally on the water. Very late, cloudy and raining hard non stop..but man oh Man NUCLEAIR winds!!! In the gusts it was really hard to hold on. In the beginning i rigged my 3.3m2 low end, but noticed after a few laps in these kinda conditions i had to give the 3.3m2 a little more downhaul. :-) I didnt had much control out there.. even a simple jibe was hard to do. But managed to do a few nice jumps and a handfull frontside and backsidewaverides. After a while the wind became less. When i was quite a far out, i needed a more volume underneeth. 68L/3.3m2 and 90+ kg can be a difficult settup at times. The waves were huge at the back. After 9pm a 4.0m2 would of been a better size. OH well it was getting dark anyways. Not having any intention to swap sailsizes. Im glad i didnt miss out this eveningsession. I'm 33 yrs old. The last 19 yrs I've been surfing @Wijk aan zee, Zandvoort & IJmuiden. At times I'll be travelling around the world for wind and waves. A while ago, I bought a gps aswell and started GPS-speedsurfing. I've got enough to learn in the speedsurfing discipline, but gladly still improving. I have set my target coming season beating the 40 knots/74.5kmh GPSmax, and have an average 10x5sec above 70.0 km/h. (My PR so far 72.2kmh, and a 5x10sec average 67.05kmh. I think i need just 1 or 2 days in stormy conditions, that with my newest speedboard AB+46 SPEED. My Pr's will be broken for sure. The main issue is that i have to laid back wavesailing on a windy day. Wavesailing always been my passion. My goals in wavesailing, land more backloops, tweaking tabletops further, and with 10 beaufort go for insane high Jumps. and try not to miss out on any huge storms combined with my P7 sado 3.3m2 '10 wavesail! The Stormchase can begin!
