Would the old pokemon silver walkthrough apply to the new Soul ...

I doubt it. I don’t know if you’ve played or remembered the Fire Red & Leaf Green adaptations, but it wasn’t the same. The basic core expectations were there, but there were so many extras and little variations in the game than I recalled from memory that the walk-through guide would be absolutely useless from the map layout and wild pokemon locations to the gym leaders’ lineups.

Wait until the game comes out, or check GameFAQs. People dive into the coding of the game itself to tell you all the ins & outs of new releases.
